Ngamba Island; A lush verdant Chimpanzee sanctuary located in Lake Victoria 23km south-east of Entebbe consisting of about 100 acres of land, 98 of it fenced and forested, for chimpanzees to roam throughout the day.

Ngamba Island is the only Chimpanzee Sanctuary in Uganda that combines conservation of wildlife and nature with exciting educational and leisure experiences. Established in 1998 by the chimpanzee Sanctuary and wildlife Conservation Trust, Ngamba Island has become a virtual refugee for chimpanzees orphaned by illegal pet and bush meat trade around Uganda offering them a safe and semi natural habitant to thrive and socialize for a better life and currently it is home to 52 orphaned and rescued chimpanzees dedicated to their rehabilitation and care, and is a testament to the harmonious coexistence of wildlife and conservation efforts.
