Overview
Welcome to our 4 Days 3 Nights Kidepo Valley National Park trip a journey that takes you to the North Eastern Uganda that is home to the Pristine Wilderness. Voted as one of the best National parks in Africa by CNN travel, The Voyage to Kidepo is nothing short of breathtaking as its fused with both Nature and cultural experiences unique to only the Northern Region. Expect Spectacular landscapes from hills and valleys, Golden savannah plains that harbor unique and rare animal species like the aardwolfs, Cheetahs, black-backed jackal, klipspringers, African hunting dogs, caracals, black-backed jackals amongst others, rare migratory and endemic bird species which include Yellow and red spotted Barbets, Golden Pipit, Hartlaub’s turaco, Rufous chatterer etc., Karimojong cultural experience and unique houses that are the manyattas watching all these with backdrops of astounding sunsets.
Day 1: Transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park
Very early in the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel and start bustling through the vibrant streets of Kampala, to the un tamed beauty of kidepo valley national park where every stroke of nature’s brush tells a story of adventure and discovery.
It is a 12-hour voyage, and you will encounter a symphony of sights and sounds including the graceful sway of palm trees, the rhythmic chorus of chirping birds, and occasional glimpse of wildlife peeking through the foliage of different parts of the journey.
At around 1-2pm, you shall have lunch in Gulu town in The Northern region and as well relax and stretch for the next part of the journey. As you traverse on your voyage, you will witness the bustling rhythm of the city and its scenery gradually undergoing a dramatic transformation to moderate villages and remote ones.
Late in the evening, you will arrive at your hotel and check into your accommodation, you will refresh, have dinner and you rest for the night.
Day 2: An Evening Game Drive
You will wake up to a sumptuous breakfast and considering the previous days’ long voyage, you shall have a free morning to rest, relax and rejuvenate your body. You are free to enjoy hotel amenities like the swimming pool or engage in a spa session for a massage to relax the tensed muscles and overcome fatigue from the long voyage encountered the previous day. Later in the afternoon, after enjoying your lunch, you will be picked up by our guide driver and will embark on an evening gamedrive accompanied mg magical sunsets through different parts of the park for example the Narus valley, kidepo valley and kanangorok hot springs. Please expect to encounter and spot iconic African wildlife species such as elephants, zebras, buffaloes, Giraffes, hyenas and mighty predators like lions if so lucky. In Uganda Cheetahs flourish and inhabit almost exclusively in the Karamoja region with an estimated 53-310 cheetahs so the fastest animal in the world is almost always sighted in Kidepo. Different bird species are also observed during the Game drive and these include i.e., Ostriches, Golden pipit, Chestnut weaver, Abyssinian roller and the Abyssinian scimitarbill and more other wild species. Later in the evening you will return to your accommodation for dinner and a nights’ rest.
Day 3: Morning guided nature walk and Hiking, and an evening Karimojong cultural experience
You will rise very early in the morning and have your breakfast, then embark on a hiking excursion to explore the Apoka tourism center, Namamukweny valley, Mount Morungule and enjoy panoramic views of different natures wonders and bird species, primates at Lonyili mountain, and the savanna plains with beautiful flora and fauna up close.
You shall drive back to the lodge for a sumptuous lunch and rest for the afternoon. Later in the evening, you will go for the Karimojong cultural encounters, and community engagements where you will visit their beautiful homesteads also known as “manyattas”, learn about their traditional way of life and other cultural practices and participate in their cultural dance. You will also visit their local markets and buy yourself a beautiful souvenir if interested, to commemorate the adventurous tour to Kidepo Valley National Park.
Day 4: Departure
You will wake up to a warm breakfast after which you shall, check out of the hotel and embark on your voyage back to the pearl of Africa’s capital.
